Course description
Businesses and industry have already realised that investment in big data is absolutely necessary to survive in the modern world. The epoch of big data is here. Every day you can find hundreds of data-analysis related vacancies in the UK.
The MSc in Data Analysis for Business Intelligence will prepare you to work with data in the business environment, using mathematical, statistical and computational skills - including data mining and practical database coding skills. This course seeks to train the generation of world-leaders in data analysis and, to this end, you will be taught by world-leaders in the field.
You will learn how to discover knowledge in data as well as honing the data analysis skills required to perform predictive and prescriptive modelling in real-world business situations. Your summer project will let you apply what you have learned to real business problems and meet your possible employers. Our partners for these projects include Eon, General Electric, Weatherford International, ARM and CapitalOne. These projects not only give you an opportunity to meet potential employers, but also to explore options for creating your own start-up company.
This degree is managed by our School of Mathematics and Actuarial Science in collaboration with our School of Informatics and includes the option of two industry standard professional IT certifications.
