Course overview In this course you take the next step in your academic journey by carrying out postgraduate research in Cultural Heritage. You'll benefit from the support of our experts, who are leading researchers in the field and have practical experience working in the heritage industry. Work flexibly on campus or via distance learning from anywhere in the world. You’ll develop your research skills to successfully make original findings and prepare for your future career. Course highlights You'll work closely with the International Centre for Heritage (ICH), benefitting from the Centre’s support and interdisciplinary approach, with opportunities to carry out research in all aspects of cultural heritage, heritage management and related areas. The ICH welcomes and encourages innovative research ideas pushing the dimensions of cultural heritage. You’ll have the space to develop your ideas fully with the support of a dedicated supervisor and access to our collections and archives. Be part of an impactful research centre working across industries at regional, national and international levels. Access the University’s Special Collections and Archives, home to approximately 120,000 books dating from 1471, and 3 million manuscripts. Get involved in organising research related events and join a global network of academics, policy makers and practitioners.
Youll need to hold a Masters qualification at Merit level or above (or its international equivalent), usually in a relevant area. Your academic and professional qualifications or relevant professional experience will normally be taken into account, and in some cases, may form an integral part of the entrance requirements. If youre applying for a distance learning research programme, youll also need to show that you have the time, commitment, facilities, and experience to successfully study by distance learning. Youll usually be required to submit a research proposal, with a typical word count of 1,000–1,500 words for Arts programmes and around 2,500 words for Law programmes.
