The BSc (Hons) Criminology and Psychology is designed to meet the needs of both individual students with an interest in studying the subjects, and individuals currently working within the two fields. The aim is to provide students with the subject knowledge and skills to develop an understanding of key theoretical concepts and an awareness of current issues within both areas of study. The focus will aim to put both subjects in a context that can be applied to everyday issues, thereby developing subject knowledge alongside application to contemporary problems within society. This will appeal to students who are interested in the academic side of the subjects and those who work, or who wish to work in related fields, to develop their knowledge and understanding to support their roles. The curriculum has been designed to encompass recent debates in both disciplines and to consider the subsequent impact on public policy and services. The split discipline approach enables the course to cover areas and topics that cross reference and supplement both subject areas of Criminology and Psychology. This provides a cohesive link and enables the course to cover a range of contemporary issues using a critical eye from both Criminology and Psychology.
