Criminology and Law - BA (Hons)

Edge Hill University

Staff are approachable and supportive There is a tea, for every need you may have. It could be improved by openly recognising and highlighting BIPOC more. What I mean by this is more acknowledgment of Black History Month, Asian heritage month etc, hosting career panels specifically geared towards people of colour, perhaps launching an access program like STEP at Durham University at Edge Hill.

The student support and emphasis on student experience is excellent, the tutors are very knowledgeable and always appear to be ready to help with any concerns- not solely from an academic perspective, the main improvement would be an emphasis on ensuring courses could stay within their lecture theatres and assigned buildings (I.e., not having law lectures in the tech hub)

Best- accommodation, peace and quiet, nice scenery, gym, catalyst Worst- minimal course hours, minimal post graduate opportunities, hard to gain access to volunteer/work experience support, bad mental health support in general

I am from Afghanistan and I attended school in Afghanistan as well. When i cane to the UK, my dream was to going to University. I made application in every other Universities hoping i will get an offer but little did I know that Edge Hill University has offer and place for anyone who is seeking a life changing career in mind, I would have not wasted my time applying elsewhere. Even though I attended school outside of the UK and didn’t have a level 3 qualification, Edge Hill surprised me with a Fasttrack course which is equivalent to access course or level 3 . This course was the crucial step to starting my degree. It was a 6 weeks course and very intense and i am so glad i took the opportunity and am grateful for the staff who guided me in the right direction . Currently im in my second year studying Law and am so proud being part of Edge Hill. The whole team from personal tutor, uniskills, wellbeing team, facilities and everything here is a place where you cannot just dream of but you can actually access them. From the great experience i have decided to study my Master at Edge Hill too.

Facilities (SU building, hub etc) are good, gives plenty of do/kill time. EdgeLink bus services could be improved with a Saturday service and longer late night services.
