The criminology team are so supportive in all aspects of learning - they encourage you to explore your thoughts and help you develop your ideas.

The University of Chester offers students a community that allows for the opportunity to engage with other students who are experiencing different interests and to take part in various volunteering opportunities, which can improve self-awareness and confidence and widen your network. The careers service offers CV appointments, career guidance and opportunities to gain recognition for extra skills gained to enhance your CV. The lectures are taught in smaller groups, which allows students the opportunity to be more active and shape discussions whilst the academic staff are extremely knowledgeable and are active in research projects that can help to inform current topics. The library provides students a space to meet and study together, or individual computer spaces are available on the lower ground. Staff are always helpful and happy to point students towards services they may require. There is also the opportunity to take part in various sports, including table tennis and netball, a gym and a swimming pool. The SU Bar on campus has different activities throughout, including quizzes, karaoke and bingo, and The Hub cafe offers freshly cooked meals for students to enjoy throughout the day. Just a 10-minute walk away is the centre of Chester, with a bus station for links to Liverpool, Wales and the local surrounding area. Lots of coffee shops, restaurants and shopping opportunities as well as the Cathedral which has various exhibitions throughout the year. An improvement in the food selection choices would be welcomed by those who have dietary requirements, such as diabetes and for those who are nutritionally aware and choose to know their dietary intake. Ingredients to be freely available to avoid having to ask counter/serving staff to go and ask the chef would also be helpful.

It is a lovely campus but is not too far away from a lovely city centre also. The staff I have encountered have all been so encouraging and supportive that I feel if I needed to ask for help, I know I would feel comfortable to do so.

Having a pat is so helpful as u have termly meetings where u discuss what is going well and what isn’t going so well so that they can support you anyway they can. My lecturers are so friendly and approachable whenever u have a question or are unsure of something they help u understand it. The city is self is ideal for someone who doesn’t want to go to a uni in a big city as Chester is small and easy to access everything.

Great how my table is balanced so that I have to get from class to class. Pats are very helpful when u need them Could be easier to get in contact with placement coordinator
