What to Expect

On this course you'll develop your own voice and hone your craft in areas that interest you. Through a range of exciting projects, you'll explore the whole writing process - from initial ideas to script development and production. With visits from published screenwriters and industry professionals, you'll explore career opportunities and build contacts, too. Writers rarely work alone, so you'll have the chance to collaborate with other courses which includes an unrivalled opportunity to explore the exciting world of Bournemouth Film School (BFS), a respected leader in the Screen and Creative Industries that for over 60 years has turned passionate individuals into job-ready graduates.


Cultivating Career-Ready Skills

We offer opportunities to develop practical, employable and transferrable skills to prepare you for a range of future careers. You'll gain an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of industry routes including how to get your screenplay produced, how to get an agent, and how to market your work. We explore the skills that employers are looking for and all the different ways you can make a living as a writer. When you graduate, you'll have a strong creative portfolio, and a professional network to kickstart your career. Between your second and third year of study, you have the option of taking a Professional Placement Year. You take charge of securing your own placement, with guidance from your course team. Once you're here and studying with us, the course team will discuss the placement options with you, so when the time comes, you can make a decision that's right for you.
