Bath Spa University

The campus is absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful mix of old and new, castles and modern buildings. Reserving rooms encourages students to get out of their rooms and study anywhere on campus, from the top of the castle tower, to the communal "pods" at Commons. The Student Union building has a bar and a small shop, and activities going on almost every day. Karaoke every other Saturday is one of my favourites. Close enough to the city of Bath for easy access, while still having the feeling of a university town. Lots of student discounts and student bars/clubs in town, as the University of Bath is also nearby. Interesting classes, lovely lecturers and guest lecturers, and proper assessments. Few, if not none, tests, allowing for those who do not thrive with simple memorization to show off how they learn. The diversity of students encourages the broadening of your own world view. A wide range of courses, allowing for study into incredibly specific topics. The main issue with the university is the wait time for wellbeing appointments, as it can take up to four months to even get a foot in the door. This means that if you do need help, it is very difficult to achieve. Also, while it isn't the university's fault, it is important to know that the First Bus system is not very reliable, so if you have a job in town, it is quite nerve-wracking.

The campus is absolutely beautiful and feels really unique, I've visited a lot of universities in the past and Bath Spa is a gorgeous and inspirational campus with really good accomodation facilities that provide affordable options and take into account your needs as a student. A downside of the campus is how isolated and far away from the city it is, it's difficult to get a cab anywhere and the buses can often be quite delayed. I really enjoyed living in the halls and was put with a really lovely group of housemates. The student support services are very efficient and are happy to help with any kind of queries and provide as much support as they can. I felt some of the interdepartmental communication was slower than I'd have liked however once they got the ball rolling things have moved quite smoothly for me. I don't feel the university has enough specific support for students who are parents, they don't provide accomodation for families and when I learned that I was pregnant I don't feel I had enough help in finding an alternative place to live. Most universities also provide bursaries or fanancial support for students with children which is also not the case at Bath Spa. However I've been well informed on what support is available outside the university by the staff there. The library is wonderfully stocked and the librarians are extremely helpful and it's amazing having lots of subject specific staff and access to all the books online.

my advice to students thinking of choosing Bath spa university would be order a food shop online I would change the amount of people accepted into halls Others should choose this university and my course because it is a beautiful campus

you should be open minded and explore the campus just relax and join as many societies as possiple as soon as possible in your stay. the teachers are amazing and its bloody interesting beyond belief philosophy is the best course
