Fashion and textiles are the UK’s largest creative industries, internationally renowned for quality, innovation and craftsmanship.On this two-year course, you will study alongside those on the BA route. You will discover the disciplines of fashion and textile design and traditional craftsmanship by designing and making garments, accessories, fabrics and other fashion or textile products. You will explore ethical practices in fashion and innovative processes to create new sustainable materials, products and methods.Translate your fashion ideas from 2D to 3D by building your pattern cutting, construction skills, and manufacturing skills or bring your textile designs to life through print, fabric manipulation, embroidery or knit. You have the opportunity to tailor your degree, experiment within fashion and textile disciplines or concentrate on one area. You can develop a unique identity, preparing you for your chosen career path into industry. The course in the second year is built up of professional practice with live briefs and competitions being a main focus, along with the opportunity for work-based placements. You are able to learn from visiting industry experts in the studio, and closely with industry partners. This enables you to apply your learning and gain real world experience. You will also engage with research as you develop your design practice.
