This Sandwich course will provide you with a solid grounding in economic theory, as well as the tools and techniques of business. You’ll be able to put your theory into practice by completing a valuable year in industry. This time spent working in business provides you with crucial work experience, which is highly prized and much sought after by employers upon graduation.You’ll understand key concepts underpinning economics analysis, and use these to critically analyse business decision making. You will be able to understand how economic analysis is applied to public and private organisations, as well as engaging critically with economic policy. You will make sense of a range of important issues affecting our everyday lives and improve your decision-making skills in ways that are relevant to the discipline of Economics. You will learn about the industry and regulatory contexts surrounding decision making as well as developing crucial employment skills.As an Economics student, you’ll have access to our unique Business Lab facility. With double-screen workstations, the room gives you a simulated experience of working in the fast-moving world of shares and trading. You can access sophisticated analysis tools and Bloomberg Terminal data on worldwide financial markets.Nottingham Business School at NTU is EQUIS and AACSB accredited and ranked in the Top 25 in the UK for Economics according to the Guardian University Guide 2022. We enrol our economics students with The Society of Professional Economists (SPE). Additionally, we are one of only six UK business schools recognised as a PRME Champion, and held up as an exemplar by the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME). NBS is also recognised by the Small Business Charter, as we play an effective role in supporting small businesses, local economies and student entrepreneurship.
