Software development and software design concepts are the themes emphasised on this programme. As a graduate, you will be skilled and knowledgeable in the technical aspects of software development. Employment is likely to be within specialist software organisations, or within organisations that commit resources to developing highly technical software systems, working as a member of a team, conceiving, designing, developing and implementing complex software systems.
The programme aims to build an understanding of key aspects of a range of concepts, principles and techniques associated with software development, some of which are at the forefront of the discipline.
You will learn to find the right technologies, techniques and tools to use, and to apply them. You will be encouraged to identify problems or tasks and apply software engineering principles in the design of applications, showing an understanding of the need for quality with appropriate documentation that shows an ability to draw on supporting evidence.
During your studies you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to analyse software development technologies and learn about the techniques applied to the solution of problems, or in the development of applications, to meet real-world requirements. Your transferable employment skills will also be nurtured.
