The best part of my university experience has been the personal and academic growth that it has pushed me toward. I’ve had the chance to study subjects so far that genuinely interest me, work on projects that challenge my thinking, and meet people from a wide range of backgrounds who’ve broadened my perspective. It’s also helped me develop independence and confidence, both in my studies and in managing life outside the classroom. The most challenging aspect has been maintaining balance, especially during busy assessment periods or while juggling academic, work, and personal commitments. At times, it’s been difficult to manage stress and stay motivated, but those moments also taught me valuable lessons about time management and resilience.

I also enjoyed being part of a diverse community where I met people from different cultures and backgrounds, which broadened my perspective and improved my communication skills. Working on real-world projects and engaging with passionate lecturers helped me deepen my understanding of my subject and apply theoretical knowledge in practical ways. The most challenging part of university life was managing the heavy workload and coping with stress during exam periods and project deadlines. At times, the pressure to perform well academically could be overwhelming, and balancing coursework with other commitments was difficult. Despite these challenges, the experience taught me resilience, time management, and problem-solving skills that have prepared me well for future challenges.

As an AI student, I found the curriculum rigorous and forward-looking, with modules that encouraged both technical mastery and ethical reflection. The serene surroundings — from cobbled streets to coastal walks — made it a peaceful yet inspiring place to grow. More structured pathways for internships, startup collaborations, and real-world AI deployments would empower students to apply their skills beyond the classroom.

Personal Reflection on My Experience at the University of Aberdeen (2024–2025) My time at the University of Aberdeen, in the Artificial Intelligence Department, began with great optimism. I was eager to immerse myself in advanced topics such as machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems, and to learn from experienced lecturers and researchers. The environment initially felt welcoming and intellectually stimulating. However, my experience changed after a difficult interaction with one of my lecturers, who also served as the course coordinator for Machine Learning. I approached him respectfully to discuss a grading issue I had identified in one of my assessments. After review, he acknowledged the marking mistake. Although I appreciated his honesty in admitting the error, this incident unexpectedly affected the atmosphere around me. Over time, I began to feel a noticeable shift in how some people treated me. Certain lecturers and fellow students appeared distant, and a few even avoided interacting with me. On several occasions, I was excluded from group projects because some classmates declined to have me join their teams. This created a deep sense of isolation and disappointment, and I often found myself suffering in silence throughout my academic journey. Despite these challenges, I made a determined effort to remain focused on my studies and uphold my commitment to learning. I continued to engage with coursework, contribute meaningfully wherever possible, and seek knowledge beyond the classroom. Through this experience, I learned to rely on my inner strength, discipline, and integrity. Looking back, this period taught me profound lessons about resilience, fairness, and self-belief. It showed me that adversity, while painful, can also be transformative. I now carry forward not just the technical skills I gained, but also a deeper sense of empathy and the courage to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult.

The university is fantastic with so many clubs and societies, and the Go Abroad team are beyond lovely and will make sure everything goes well for you. he University of Aberdeen is one of the UK's most internationally distinguished universities and located in one of the most dynamic, prosperous and beautiful regions of the UK. It's a vibrant coastal location with a low cost of living and is considered to be one of the safest places to live in the whole of the UK. There's history around every corner, plenty of modern attractions and amenities, and two world-class universities which date back over 500 years. Primarily there are no worst aspects about the university.
