This module is intended to provide students of engineering and science with knowledge of the fundamentals of the branch of pure mathematics known as analysis. The module reviews the aspects of classical pure mathematics and leads into the development of a rigorous foundation for the study of calculus, matrices and complex numbers.
As a development of the Analytical Techniques 1 module, this course aims to present to students the basic mathematical knowledge of fundamental topics of differentiation, integration, matrices and vectors that will bring them to proper understanding of equation solving and the use of calculus in engineering and science.
This module builds a fundamental knowledge base and establishes intellectual skills associated with thinking critically. Focus is placed on the real world application of critical thinking in identifying strong and weak arguments in the academic world and beyond.
The aim of English Skills Portfolio is to enable students to develop their English Language level within an academic context, and to equip students with the linguistic and academic skills necessary to perform confidently within their chosen discipline, whilst simultaneously encouraging them to become effective independent learners.
This module provides students with an understanding of environmental phenomena issues and their relationship to the various engineering disciplines. The module considers the universe from its birth and covers subjects such as evolution up until more recent human impacts such as climate change.
The module provides an introduction to programming concepts, terminology and the evolution of programming. Students will develop an understanding of what software development is and what software developers do. This module allows students to conceptualise their knowledge through writing, testing and debugging software.

This module will emphasise the use of Microsoft Windows packages including PowerPoint, Excel and Word as a platform for further study.
This module has been designed to help students develop their academic literacy and communication skills in preparation for undergraduate study and to understand the institutional culture, practices, rules and expectations of British higher education in an international academic context and community.
The module provides a comprehensive introduction to the study of the internet and today’s mobile communication age. This module will discuss the principles and technologies that underpin mobile communication systems, applications and devices; the design and development of communications systems; and the fundamental concepts, principles and theories of the technologies that underpin computer networking.
Introducing students to the study of Physics, this course will cover topics including but not limited to; base and derived units, potential and kinetic energy, vectors, electric potential and fields, magnetics and electromagnetism, all of which will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the basic principles of Physics necessary for further study.
