This one-year (top-up) Level 6 BSc in Computer Science awarded by our partner the University of Gloucestershire, allows progression for those completing a HND or Foundation Degree in IT or Computer Science. The modules chosen aim to give a rounded education in Computer Science that gives flexibility in approach to gaining employment in the digital industries. It also allows students to progress into post-Graduate education.


Teaching and Learning

The teaching methods employed on the programme are designed to gradually develop students’ approach to learning. Students learn about a wide range of professional and transferable skills, including professional behaviours needed in the workplace, as well as application of academic skills to the workplace. Teaching strategies will include face-to face sessions and blended learning approaches including for the delivery of lectures, seminar discussions and group work. Students will also produce practical tasks such as digital artefacts to enhance their skills.


Assessment

Assessment outcomes are developed over time, encouraging students to reflect on their progress and develop their own technical skills and techniques. The assignments on this course are designed to provide a balance between written reports and demonstrations of other relevant skills. Central to the student’s development on the course is the continuous formative feedback, both from peers and tutors, as ideas are conceived, work is designed and planned. Students work in an environment which seeks to mirror that of a modern workplace, and are supported to develop the attitudes, skills and attributes needed to work in an agile industry alongside other professionals
