This course will give you the knowledge and understanding to tackle key questions around public health, social care and community engagement, leading to a fuller understanding of the sector and its vital role in society.This course has been developed in line with the University Centre’s commitment to supporting enhanced professional practice to meet sector needs. Our aim is to develop the knowledge and professional skills required to work successfully in public health, social care and community engagement. It has been developed with a focus on ‘community’, through engagement with community groups, community-based health and social care employers and voluntary organisations. The specialist modules in this programme will develop your skills and understanding of Community, Public Health and Social Care studies and related ideas such as community cohesion and the role of research methods in improving professional practice. The programme will develop students’ skills and understanding of health and social care settings, person centred care, safeguarding and leading inclusive best practice for progression into employment or further study. You will be encouraged to think critically to support your learning of ideas, concepts and research combined with real world practice.

We would normally expect applicants to have a minimum of UCAS 48 tariff points.Applicants will have to evidence a suitable level of English, ideally through a GCSE, Key Skills, Functional Skills or equivalent qualification.
You will need to evidence completion of a Level 3 qualification Health and Social Care or a related subject. Substantial experience of working within the sector will also be considered, if you do not have any formal qualifications. We would normally expect applicants to have a minimum of UCAS 48 tariff points.Applicants will have to evidence a suitable level of English, ideally through a GCSE, Key Skills, Functional Skills or equivalent qualification.The College actively supports claims for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and applications will be considered on an individual basis. All credit from prior learning will be assessed by the University Centre. All programmes of study are conducted and assessed in the English language.
