Overview
We are the world's leading integrated department of applied psychology, focusing on the implementation of groundbreaking research to improve development, education, and mental and physical wellbeing in individuals and social groups. We use a broad range of scientific approaches to advance understanding and practice across these domains. The department has an exceptional track record of influencing policy in the delivery of health, education, and social care. Our PhD students have excellent networking opportunities across UCL, nationally and internationally. On graduating, they progress to postdoctoral positions at home and abroad, work in industry or clinical, health and educational professions.
Careers
The majority of PhD students go on to postdoctoral positions and academic careers at institutions in the UK, EU and USA.
Applicants should have a minimum of an upper second-class first degree in a relevant subject, or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard. Applicant should also have a commitment to, and demonstrated ability in, research. Often your previous experience and performance, such as in an undergraduate or a Master's research project, will show whether research is right for you and you are right for research.
