The Clinical and Community Psychology course is truly exceptional in its approach to learning and making a positive impact. What distinguishes this course is its unparalleled access to real services and community partners, providing students with a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the practical aspects of their studies. Through partnerships and voluntary schemes, students can actively engage with local community groups and the NHS, gaining first-hand experience and working towards bringing about positive change in the lives of vulnerable and marginalised individuals.By going beyond the individual level, this course delves into the complex interplay between societal factors and personal well-being. Students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to critically examine and understand how these societal factors shape and influence the lives of individuals and communities. Through this broader perspective, students are able to develop a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable populations and the underlying social issues that contribute to their difficulties. The course curriculum not only focuses on theoretical concepts and research but also emphasizes the practical application of knowledge. Students have the opportunity to put their learning into practice by actively participating in partnerships and voluntary schemes. This hands-on experience allows them to directly apply their skills in real-world settings, working alongside community partners to address the needs and concerns of those they aim to help.Get a strong foundation in clinical and community psychology theory as well as practical experience. It is an ideal choice for those wanting to work in mental health or with vulnerable and marginalised communities. Unlike other undergraduate psychology degrees, this course introduces psychopathology and approaches to mental distress in the first year. You will study mental health problems such as anxiety, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and bipolar disorder. You will explore topics like the psychology of drug addiction and crime. We've designed this degree to give you a competitive edge when it comes to gaining a place on a postgraduate course. If you decide to go straight into work, the experience you'll have gained from placements in clinical and community settings will maximise your job prospects too.Your degree could be your first step towards becoming a clinical psychologist. It may also lead directly to other graduate employment opportunities within the NHS, public sector or charitable and voluntary sector organisations.
