I love studying at Glasgow uni! The west end of Glasgow is a great area to be with everyone living close to each other, most people living max 20 mins walk from the uni. There are lots of great cafes to work in as well as the many study spaces available in the uni. The uni in your 1st two years allows for you to take elective subjects so you're not just restricted to one subject area in your studies. Personally I love the classics course I'm taking and it follows a rhythm of one term studying the Greek sphere of the ancient world then switching to the Roman world. At Glasgow their is a big opportunity to take a year abroad, which I plan on dong. This is great and exciting, however I feel as though this department of the uni could be improved so if one of your main reasons of coming to Glasgow is based of its year abroad opportunities make sure there are other aspects of the uni and uni life which are motivating you to pick Glasgow. The student life is great! On average I think I go out 3/4 times a week. Some to student union events (the union has club nights) and other nights clubbing in the centre or going for chill drinks after lectures. Great place to make friends and if you are going to be looking for a job at uni everyone I know, myself included, managed to easily find a part-time job. There's a great public transport network in Glasgow with the subway and buses. As well as having easy access to Edinburgh and other parts of Scotland. However the trains can be expensive if you are travelling to/ from England but not very complicated journeys. The student accommodation is good, I stayed at Murano street student village which was great as your surrounded by other 1st years and generally there was just always stuff going on. But, it is one of the farthest accommodations from the uni so if you don't want a walk maybe choose a different one. overall I really enjoy my time studying in Glasgow.

Absolutely loved it, I've met so many nice people and made so many friends. My lectures are interesting, though sometimes confusing, and my seminar tutors are easy to talk to.

It has been okay. The social side has been lacking as friendships are established in the first few years, and due to the competitive nature of the course it can be hard to make friends in honours years. The courses have been interesting and relevant, and I haven't regretted any of the choices I made re honours classes. Some members of staff have been difficult to work with and have had strange approaches to using homework and marking coursework The campus is easy to navigate and is in a good location for local amenities and entertainment.

a dream coming true - the university of Glasgow is the perfect place to experience student life. Excellent university, amazing professors and lecturers, great facilities and conditions! What else would you need?

Having done a BSc 40 years ago and gained a 1st, I find that writing essays for an Arts degree does not come easily to me, and the vagueness of the subjects frustrates me in comparison with precise subjects like Mathematics and IT (in which I worked). However, I'm on track for another 1st or at least an upper 2nd. The younger students have welcomed me as a mature student.
