Civil Engineering with Architecture will give you an understanding of the architect’s role in construction and the interaction between architect and civil engineer. This is a unique degree programme in collaboration with The Glasgow School of Art. The architectural component is entirely design-oriented, studio-based and directed towards the production of sketches, drawings and models and their compilation into a portfolio.You will take part in a week long residential, construction project, 'Constructionarium', where you will build scaled versions of iconic buildings using a range of construction materialsYou will take part in the five week multi-disciplinary Interact project with Architecture and Quantity Surveyor students from Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Caledonian University respectively. There are several engineering focused student societies including Glasgow University Civil Engineers (GUCE) and Engineers Without Borders.Our recent graduates have been employed by companies such as: WSP, Atkins Global, Mott MacDonald.Our programmes are accredited by the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers which can help you on your way to registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng). The MEng programme satisfies the requirement to apply to become a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer upon successful completion.
