From safe drinking water to transport systems, civil engineers make a huge impact on the world we live in and our quality of life. This four-year Civil Engineering MEng (Hons) course focuses on the interactions between buildings and infrastructure, the environment in which they are built and operated, and the health of the people who use them.During your studies, you’ll gain a firm grounding across the breadth of civil engineering, with a deeper focus as you progress in areas of civil engineering that impact both the human and environment. You will do this by applying practical applications, techniques and creative thinking to meet various built environment challenges. You will also learn how to design and manage high-profile projects. As part of your course you will take part in site visits to see civil engineering in action. You will also access our research and laboratory facilities, including Soil, Fluid, Structure and Computer labs. This is an integrated course, combining studies for an undergraduate Honours degree with those for a Masters degree. As a result, this is a challenging and engaging course to take. This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), comprising the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Institute of Highway Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Permanent Way Institution, on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purpose of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
