The BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering course is intended to be your first step towards becoming a Chartered Civil Engineer and a practitioner in this exciting global industry. Civil engineering plays a vital, creative role in improving and protecting our surrounding environment, and carries local, national, and international implications. The application of mathematics and analytical skills is key to student development on this course, where the underlying principles of civil engineering serve as the bedrock for the curriculum at higher levels of study. The course prepares students to fulfil industry expectations of being able to identify, define, and solve complex problems, while demonstrating awareness of the ethical, environmental, and business aspects of civil engineering projects. This includes the construction of dams, reservoirs, transport infrastructure, bridges, major buildings, water supply, sewage, harbours, and sea defences, all of which fall under the remit of civil engineering professionals. Assessment of your development and aptitude includes an individual research project, where you will review current literature and collect data before providing conclusive critical analysis.Full-time (3 years)
