Our civil and environmental engineering course is designed to give you a better understanding of the relationship between civil engineering and current environmental issues. We will help you to advance your analytical skills in core subject areas, including structural analysis, sustainability, geotechnics and hydraulics. You will learn to use modern IT techniques to solve complex problems throughout this course. This course has been designed in close consultation with industry and is accredited as a designated technical MSc degree by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM). The JBM comprises the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Structural Engineers, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and the Institute of Highway Engineers. This course is also accredited by the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES), and successful completion satisfies the academic requirements for chartered status. Professional accreditation This degree is accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) comprising the: Institution of Civil Engineers Institution of Structural Engineers Institute of Highway Engineers The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation the Permanent Way Institution This degree meets the academic requirement for further learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). To hold accredited qualifications for CEng registration, you must also hold a Bachelor (Hons) degree that has been accredited as partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). Study options As well as the full-time and part-time options, this course can be studied with: Pre-Masters: If you have an undergraduate degree but do not meet the entry criteria or English language requirements for this course, you may qualify for our Extended Masters or Enhanced Extended Masters courses. Internship: Take this course with a six-month internship in the UK.
You should have an honours degree (2:2 or above) in civil or structural engineering or another engineering qualification at an equivalent level. We may also offer you a place based on a combination of an ordinary degree (e.g. BSc/BEng in engineering without honours) together with relevant experience from within the work environment.
