.You will have an opportunity to undertake


the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

programme during your study. The MHFA aims to support you in managing young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, providing a holistic approach to nursing.There are many avenues you can chose once you are qualified and registered as a children and young people’s nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register. You can choose to work in acute settings such as: a children’s ward, children’s emergency department, theatres, neonates. Alternatively, you may choose to work in the community as: a health visitor, school nurse, community children’s nurse, within a special educational needs school.


The NHS Learning Support Fund

Students, studying nursing, midwifery and many of the allied health professions courses from September 2020, may be eligible for a payment of at least £5,000 a year which they will not need to pay back. They may be able to apply for Financial support at the university through the NHS Learning Support Fund (NHS LSF) which offers eligible students additional support while studying for their degree. This is in addition to the Student Loan from the Student Loans Company*.
