The Chemistry with a Year in Industry BSc will give you a strong theoretical and experimental understanding of chemistry, with the opportunity for a year’s professional placement in a major UK company to allow you to test your training, and assess your career choices, in the workplace. This programme is delivered within a research-enriched teaching context, transcending the traditional divisions of physical, organic and inorganic chemistry and integrating practical methods throughout. It is designed to train the next generation of articulate, flexible chemists for a wide variety of careers starting with chemical, biotech and pharmaceutical industries and extending to wider careers e.g. finance, law and media. This programme adds a year’s professional internship to the King’s Chemistry BSc. To take the Year in Industry, you need to meet and maintain a grade threshold of typically around a 2.1 level, and to be successful in securing a year’s professional internship offered by major companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, or in finance, banking, management and law, and smaller organisations such as biotech companies.
