Chemistry with a Foundation Year

I have family background across several universities and I have heard a lot of complaints about the way certain universities are run, the way staff are treated, the financial struggles across multiple aspects of university admin trickling down and making things difficult for staff lower down the ladder. Some members of staff here have outright told me they enjoy working at Swansea much more than they did at *other unnamed university*, and my belief has always been that how good an institution is will always be reflected in how much their staff enjoy being there. There are reliable (paid) car parks within a five-minute walk of campus, and my carless friends who aren't within lift-giving distance of me have no trouble getting the bus to and from campus, barring the occasional bus strike. The campus is well-maintained and easy to navigate, the environment is generally friendly, and although some of the building interiors feel a bit like mazes (which is universal when it comes to university buildings) there will always be somebody happy to point you in the right direction. My main complaint would be that phone signal on campus across multiple providers is patchy, which can be an issue when I'm trying to use my phone as a WiFi hotspot when I want to avoid sharing sensitive data over public WiFi.

It’s near the coast and the studnet support is good the professors look out for you and want you to do well and it is fun to be in a new environment near the beach and the scenery is very nice

Great teaching, student support, night life and pub scene. Beach very close and always easy to get away from the city to go for a walk etc. good sports but lacking high level. SU is fine but inconsistent

The location is nice as I like visiting the beach. The lecturers for chemistry are all helpful people and will be happy to help any with problems or anything in general, relating to chemistry or not. The student support is good as they made sure I was safe and feeling better after I was in a bad situation.

Overall, uni has been a pleasant experience for me I don’t rlly feel like there’s anywhere that can be drastically improved, I’ve settled in well I know where everything that I need is located and am rlly enjoying my time here.
