Our Master's by Research programme provides the opportunity to undertake a short, in-depth independent research project in one of our research groups. It will equip you for more sustained and original work at the doctoral level or for advanced-level applied research positions. This degree will develop relevant analytical and technical skills, together with transferable skills related to research, communication, problem-solving, and independent working. The course structure is typically divided into nine months of full-time laboratory work as part of a research team, followed by a three-month writing-up period. You will be mentored by a chemistry academic and offered further opportunities for learning via our graduate training programme.
Students need to have a 2:1 Hons degree (UK or equivalent) or Masters degree in Chemistry, or an equivalent degree in a related discipline such as Physics or Chemical Engineering, appropriate to the proposed research project. We may also consider non-standard applicants.
