The lecturers are the most helpful I have ever studied under. I always hear horror stories of lecturers from other universities from my friends but thankfully I have never come across such issues as the lecturers here always strive to improve based off the Tell Us survey that students fill in at the end of their learning. There is also plenty of materials to work with. The university also has a variety of clubs & societies all fun in their own way, including non stressful ones like baking, arts and crafts, pet, etc all thanks to the generosity of the university to allow grants for all respective societies. I too am part of the Raising and Giving committee and planning and carrying out events with the many students of the uni always feels so rewarding. The student life is great through the many networking programs, all of them are very casual so even the most introverted of students would have no issues fitting in. Not to mention the inclusivity of the uni allows for plenty of culture sharing and experiencing like honestly I have never really celebrated Christmas, Easter, Halloween, but so many events are held that it felt like a waste to not at least experience it once in my life. Looks wise, this university is beautiful. With the old buildings being updated to ensure safety and comfort of the students. With plenty of rooms for students to work in that covers the Information Commons and the Diamond, all guaranteed comfort for the students who have no space to study in their own home. The toilets are clean and spacious. There are also many cafes available in the main learning buildings so no student would have to starve if they had no time to cook and they can quickly grab a bite or even a little snack to sneak in. In support wise, the Student Information Centre is always available with no booking needed from morning till evening and they are well informed of the procedure to take when students need help. In my case where we needed a guarantor as I am an international student they know which of the housing companies where they can provide assistance and let us know. Got my calculators approved, helped with moving issues, etc. If there is a complain I would give, it is only about the geography of the uni itself but honestly I cannot really get mad about that since its not like the uni can magically move the hills away. All of the hill hiking has probably thickened up the calf muscles of mostly all of the students hahaha. Besides that all of the buildigns are reasonably spaced and it would take at most 15 minutes to walk between them which is not really suc a big deal for me personally

Positives: great diversity, lots of great facilities and opportunities to improve your employability eg workshops, employer fairs, etc. Lots of socials and societies for you to be a part of. There is truly something for everyone. Students can work part time jobs at the university and summer research placements. Improvements : student village is really far from the university, would advise the uni to invest in buses. More scholarship opportunities (in any year of study).

I’m not sure about the worst part, but what I can say is that the University of Sheffield (UoS) is the most comfortable, great, and welcoming university, especially for me as an international student. From the moment I arrived, I never felt left out, and that’s something I really appreciate. The staff and faculty are incredibly supportive, and they genuinely care about the well-being and success of all students. The facilities here are top-notch, from modern classrooms and research labs to well-equipped study spaces and recreational areas. What stands out the most is the inclusivity and diversity of the university. There is always support available to everyone, regardless of race, religion, or background. The community here fosters an environment of mutual respect, where students from all over the world can feel at home. The campus is also very safe, and I feel more secure here compared to other universities I’ve visited. The friendly atmosphere, coupled with the academic excellence, makes UoS a special place to be. I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to study here, and it has been an enriching experience both academically and personally. I always tell my juniors about the amazing opportunities this university offers because it is truly a great place to pursue your education and grow as an individual. I’m proud to be a part of the UoS community and will continue to promote it to others.

The uni has many great study spaces, lots of fun events planed and the courses are well layed out and explain everything needed.

Lots of opportunities for people with different interests and the network you make will be invaluable. World class facilities such as the pilot plant, and the people are all so wonderful. Perfect balance between city and countryside life.

Student support services at the SU are excellent. I have benefitted significantly from the library and laboratory facilities. The campus is centrally located and I live very close. The 24*7 open library is a great study space. I have many opportunities to engage in part-time work, societies, and internships. The University is expensive, and I wish it was much more transparent as to why they are charging such high fees every year.
