Acquire the skills and expertise to detect and quantify cardiac and respiratory health problems in people of all ages and pathologies, in the rewarding field of cardiac physiology. Your three-year Cardiac Physiology (Healthcare Science) degree is challenging but rewarding and focuses on the detection and assessment of heart disease in a wide range of settings. The courseis divided equally between academic and clinical placement learning, giving you the skills to change lives through your specialist care.You will study cardiovascular, respiratory and sleep physiology in your first year, then specialise in cardiac physiology in your second and third years. You will learn how to use specialist diagnostic equipment and interpret clinical information to make key decisions.Our dedicated physiology team will be teaching and supporting you from day one right through to your final year. 100% of our graduates (2021) are employed in cardiac departments and working in the NHS.You will benefit from 2,000 hours of practice placements working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The BSc Cardiac Physiology degree can be studied over three years full-time or four years part-time. This is the three year, full-time option.

We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).Unless a more advanced level (Higher or Advanced Higher) is specified in the stated entry requirements, all applicants will be required to have achieved a pass in Mathematics and English at Standard Grade, Grade 3 or National 5, Grade C, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4.
