On the foundation year you'll learn about key areas of business and will develop the study skills and self-confidence needed to study at degree level.
**Location**
This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat. A short walk away is Augustine House our award-winning library and home to a vast range of learning resources and student support teams.
Foundation Year module.
This module introduces the fundamental concepts of the business world, including business structures, and functions in organisations. You will explore the internal and external factors influencing business operations and decision-making. The module also covers foundation knowledge of essential topics such as marketing, finance, economics, human resources, management and leadership, ethics and entrepreneurship. By the end of the module, you will have gained a foundational understanding of how businesses operate and their role in the economy and society.
Foundation Year module.
This module is designed to develop your essential knowledge and skills for both your university studies and future career. Throughout the module you will develop your skills in communication, goal setting, time management, problem solving, research, and academic skills, whilst also embedding a focus on well-being. You will explore practical tools such as MS Office and AI technologies, including ChatGPT, to enrich your learning experience and strengthen your professional skills. By the end of the module you will have developed key competencies to prepare you to succeed throughout your university journey and beyond.
Foundation Year module.
This module will equip you with the writing, digital, and communication skills essential for many careers that require innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to solving global challenges in a courageous way (e.g., climate change, human rights, population growth, emerging technologies, diseases, etc.).
