This four year BSc in Civil Engineering with Placement course will offer you hands-on experience in the industry and enhance your practical skills and employability.

Our strong ties with the construction industry will help you develop essential technical and professional skills through real-world projects, giving you a competitive edge in the job market.

You'll build your knowledge progressively, covering core civil and construction topics such as structural mechanics, hydraulics, geotechnics, materials, and construction management. Additionally, you'll address emerging challenges to enhance humanity and the environment.

Our curriculum is informed by cutting-edge research and delivered by experts in the field. This means you'll be well-prepared for your future career. The course is aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on affordable and clean energy, industry innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cities and communities, and climate action.

In your first year, you'll take core civil and construction engineering modules, along with modules common to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and computer engineering programmes. This broadens your understanding of the engineering profession and helps you develop technology integration skills through multi-disciplinary projects.

In the second year, you'll build on the knowledge and skills from the first year by taking essential core modules. By the third year, you'll apply what you've learned to real projects. Design elements are integrated throughout the programme, ensuring you gain practical experience at every stage.

The course is supported by guest experts from the industry and site visits. You'll also have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, including the largest slab test facility in Europe and modern instrumentation like 3D laser scanners for surveying.

A placement year offers hands-on experience in the industry, enhancing your practical skills and employability. It provides an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, network with professionals, and gain insights into your future career. This experience can significantly boost your confidence and job prospects after graduation.
