Biomedical science is a vital part of modern medicine, enabling diseases to be diagnosed, monitored and treated. Develop your understanding of healthcare and human disease processes with a Biomedical Science degree.You will cover a broad biological principles relating to the normal function of the human body, as well as providing up to date training in medical and disease related topics including pathophysiology, cell pathology, clinical immunology, haematology, microbiology and genetics. Your studies will be complemented by visits to local pathology laboratories and the contribution of external NHS specialists and biomedical scientists, with whom we have strong long lasting links.This Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) accredited course is structured to take account of the integrated and multidisciplinary nature of biomedical science. In the early stages you will acquire a broad understanding of the normal functioning of the body to prepare you for the later introduction of more specialised medical and pathological aspects of human disease. There are a range of module options that you can take in your second and third year according to your interests.
