This course will prepare you for a successful career in biomedical technology. It has been developed by our strong and successful biomedical engineering research academics and builds on the strength of our research, our interdisciplinary setting and our industrial and clinical collaborations.

This course is for you if you are interested in the application of technology in novel diagnostic and therapeutic applications for revolutionising biomedical science and modernising healthcare.
The programme is designed for new graduates and professionals with an engineering background who want to significantly advance their understanding of the field or are interested in either developing a medical device or in learning how to handle biomedical data or both.
The course will also help you acquire an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals as well as advanced aspects of practical skills, technologies and methods and an appreciation of the latest developments in the biomedical engineering sector.
You will learn through a series of lectures, assessed assignments and technical visits. Teaching is by academics and industry professionals whose work is internationally recognised and you will also benefit from seminars by visiting experts.
You will have access to extensive experimental and computational facilities including electronics and biomedical engineering wet and dry labs, collaborative projects with biologists in biology labs, and facilities hosting a range of CAD and FEM Multiphysics simulation platforms.
Assessment is based on marks obtained throughout the year for your coursework, class tests, end of year exams and your dissertation.
The dissertation provides a stimulating and challenging opportunity to apply your knowledge and develop a deep understanding in a specialised topic of your choice. Dissertations can be research or industry inspired, allowing you to prepare for your future career choices.
Applicants should hold at least a lower second-class honours degree in biomedical engineering, electronic engineering, medical physics or a relevant subject, or the equivalent from an international institution.
