University of Bath

As a disabled student, student support at Bath university has been beyond amazing. I've felt welcomed and included in every step of my academic journey thus far in spite of my conditions. In contrast, I've found the student union a little opaque at times which has lead to me interacting with them less than I think your average student would.

The University is very dedicated to climate action and sustainability. The study spaces are well managed by friendly and approachable members of staff that are happy to help. The main highlight of studying at the University of Bath is the support I received before and whilst applying for placements. The placement and careers teams give you tailored feedback on your CVs and applications helping to make an otherwise very daunting process alot easier to navigate. One thing that could be improved though is the need for more reliable buses to and from campus. I also think the 1st year student accommodation on campus could be alot more affordable.

Bath is a beautiful city and very safe. Campus is fairly removed from the city so it’s a bit of a commute but the distinction between social and academic life is good and needed.

One of the best parts of University of Bath is the plethora of places to study. There are a wide selection of places to grab food (which is always yummy) and find a table to study at, or quieter areas such as the library or in the Management building and more. It makes staying on campus and getting work done much easier and less daunting. The huge range of societies, sports and others as well as events organised by the student union is also amazing. There really is something for everyone, and you can tell a lot of thought went into it. Also excellent student support when needed, in a wide variety and high quality. Some of the worst aspects is just how far Campus is from the city. It may be easier as an undergraduate when you have campus accomodation, but not all of us had that and so some of us have to commute up every morning even though we're in our first year. It can be frustrating when buses are full, especially due to needing to buy a bus pass. Campus has some beautiful green areas but some of the buildings are a bit concrete and bland, perhaps taking away from the overall feel of campus.

The campus is on the smaller side which means everything is really easy to get to within a couple minutes walking. One of the best spots on campus is the lake and getting to watch the sunset there on a summer evening is always amazing. I have found the lecturers are always willing to help with anything you’re stuck on and are generally really supportive. The biggest downfall is the buses which can be extremely busy to get to campus in the mornings or leaving campus in the afternoon but everything else is great.
