Intro
Our Biomedical Sciences MRes provides an advanced understanding of different approaches to research and allows you to develop a critical appreciation of research processes, with extensive training in biomedical research methodology.
You will discover how to design and undertake a substantial research project, working closely with our researchers who are leading the development of novel biomedical products and pioneering new approaches to regenerative medicine, and the treatment of cancer, asthma, diabetes and other chronic diseases. You will also be attached to one or more of our research groups enabling you to work alongside postdoctoral and other postgraduate researchers with shared interests.
You will develop your lab-based skills using our specialist research facilities, preparing you for employment in industry or further academic study. The research project provides a real intellectual challenge, allows you to demonstrate your creativity and initiative and to understand the relevance of scientific research to industry.
Careers
The course intends to maximise both your personal and professional potential, and in particular provides a foundation for careers in research, industry, the public sector and academia.
On course completion, you will be equipped with practical research-based training, plus the necessary transferable skills to prepare you for career progression.
Applicants need a 2:1 degree in a relevant subject. Students with a degree that does not fall within this category but who have significant relevant experience, will also be considered. All applicants should provide a full description of any research projects undertaken, relevant work experience and non-academic qualifications.
