The Behavioural and Experimental Economics MSc provides you with advanced training in core areas of economics. You'll acquire specialist knowledge in behavioural economic theory and experimental methods in economics.You will learn how psychological foundations of behaviour are integrated in recent economic theory. These foundations shape policy making in areas such as health and environment.You will gain understanding of experimental methods in economics through classroom experiments.You can tailor your degree by choosing from a range of optional modules.The MSc dissertation will give you the opportunity to apply your insights and design your own experiment. Our knowledgeable academics will offer support and guidance throughout your studies.Upon graduating, you will have developed the skills necessary to excel in your career. Typically a 2:1 honours degree from a UK university, or international equivalent, in economics or joint honours with a major component of economics. You are expected to have a good standard in mathematics (eg. calculus, matrix algebra, constrained optimisation) and statistics (eg. probability theory, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, simple regressions) achieved at undergraduate level. If you have a 2:1 degree in a related subject that is highly quantitative (eg finance, statistics, operations research, mathematics, engineering) you may be considered with approval from an academic selector. The selector will use the degree syllabus and / or letters of reference as evidence of understanding and suitability.
