On this course well help you explore the latest thinking in the subject, starting with first principles of managing people, analysing information and understanding behaviour. From there, youll expand into topics like managing across cultures and leading change. In your final year, youll also be able to pick your own subject as a research topic.

We focus on the knowledge and skills youll need to help organisations succeed in the contemporary business world. With organisational planning, strategy, and competitive positioning, youll have insights into what it takes to succeed. Youll also develop your personal skills. We want to help you achieve your ambitions and become an early-career professional.

By the time you graduate, you wont just have extensive knowledge of the role, youll also have a deeper understanding of the business and legislative landscape. In other words, youll leave ready to start your career in the world of HR.

Career prospects

By studying human resource management, you'll have a wide range of career paths open to you.

Previous graduates have gone on to work as HR professionals in a wide range of sectors including:

Banking and finance

Retail including supermarkets and online stores

Hospitality, tourism and events

Public sector organisations such as government departments, councils, hospitals and the police.

Many of our graduates go into training schemes with international companies like IBM, McDonalds, or GE Healthcare. Some have chosen to develop their careers abroad – in Europe, Asia, and South America.

Other graduates have chosen to continue their HR studies at postgraduate level to become CIPD Chartered HR Managers.
