Overview
The BA (Hons) Business Management with Foundation Year programme is delivered in partnership with Buckinghamshire New University. The course is offered to those who do not meet the minimum requirements for our three-year programme, or those who do not feel fully prepared for first-year entry.
This is a four-year programme that includes an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will help you to hone your academic study skills and develop your abilities while also recognising your own strengths and areas for improvement in preparation for a bachelor's degree.
Today's management of companies and organisations necessitates serious leadership abilities. Companies are still on the lookout for experienced and trained executives to ensure future success. Employers are looking for graduates who are not only academically trained, but also work-ready with management and leadership skills. This course will give you the tools you need to be a positive and competent manager.
Shift is the only constant for the new generation of executives. This curriculum will not only provide you with experience and understanding of current best practises in strategic international management, but it will also assist you in developing your personal skills in order to prepare you for your first management positions or for starting your own company.
Assessment
The assessment strategy is designed to ensure that learning outcomes are achieved and that there is a development of knowledge and skills. Independent learning is embedded within the programme and students develop a depth of understanding via synthesis, critical analysis and evaluation.
You will typically have one or two assessment points per module that are formally assessed. These range from individual coursework, to group work and examinations. In your last year of study, you will develop and present a dissertation project based on original research collected and analysed by you.
Progression
Since this curriculum covers all aspects of business management, it also allows students to concentrate on a specific field of interest for postgraduate study, either full-time or part-time while working. On successful completion of the Level 6 course, students are entitled to continue their studies at a post-graduate level, which includes pursuing a post-graduate qualification in a business-related field.
Careers
You will be well qualified to advance to a variety of opportunities and careers in general management or to start your own company if you complete the programme successfully. You would have acquired a broad range of knowledge and skills, allowing you to work in any field or business position, including operations and service management, customer management, and project management, retail management.
