This is a four-year acting degree with foundation year that is a version of our very popular BA (Hons) Acting for Stage and Screen course, with an integrated foundation year. This foundation acting degree is the perfect route to help you develop your skills and self-confidence needed before you embark on Year 1 of your degree course, designed over 3 terms, is designed to enable students to achieve their potential as an actor at the start of their journey.
Acting
The Acting module covers a wide range of techniques that focus on building core skills. Students will be exposed to a range of dramatic texts during monologue and scene work and will be given opportunities to explore their creativity and adaptability in improvisation and devising lessons.
The voice component of the Voice/Movement module will help students to develop an unrestricted, well-placed, and articulated voice, powered by the breath and free of habitual tension. Students will work with tutors to harness the potential of their own voice and explore the ways in which it can be used in response to a range of dramatic texts.
The movement component will enable students to take responsibility for their own body through an informed and balanced approach to the physical demands of professional training. The risk of injury will thereby be reduced, providing a secure foundation for a professional career. Further to this, students will learn how to move freely and easily in a manner appropriate to the demands of the performance material and will learn how to assimilate basic choreographed steps.
