Our master's in autism in a unique and niche qualification which will ensure that your knowledge is absolutely abreast of new theories and learning in autism. Theory and knowledge of autism is constantly growing and evolving and you will be at the forefront.

You will learning from teachers who bring in first hand knowledge of working in industry. You will graduate with a comprehensive and rare level of expertise in autism, preparing you for specialist roles in your career.

We welcome applications from a broad range of backgrounds and will consider each individual application on its merit. We are most interested in the individual reasons for you interest and we would encourage you to apply if you have transferable skills from less traditional academic backgrounds, such as industry or even personal experience.

Most students who enrol on the Autism MA are currently employed, and seeking to enhance career opportunities through a specialist knowledge of autism. The Autism MA will equip you with a valuable range of transferable skills from the academic to the practical and interpersonal.

By undertaking the MA in Autism, you are laying strong foundations for career development as a leader in autism in organisations such as schools, hospitals, the community, social services inspectorate, the police service, charities and parent organisations. There is significant evidence that this course will give your career an edge.

Assessments throughout the course offer you opportunities to consider, discuss, analyse and evaluate your practice in relation to theoretical concepts and ideas. This process facilitates critical reflection on work related problems and how they might be resolved.

The skills that are required in such assessments reflect many of the component features of employability, such as independent learning, team working, communication, analysis, critical reflection and self-awareness.

These advanced skills are valued in many fields including teaching, speech therapy, occupational therapy, nursing and social services.
