Art has the power to challenge society today. This course is for you if you’re curious to explore the cultural, political, social and economic significance of art. During your degree, you can choose to: discover art’s relationship with feminism, queer studies, empire and postcolonialism, criticism and the media tailor your degree to what interests you most, from philosophy to business, law and modern languages open your mind to other disciplines with our range of electives and pathways – an important aspect of this degree join the Art Society to share your interest in art, collaborate and be inspired apply for a placement year to gain work experience. Just outside Brighton and close to London, the University is brilliantly located for the arts. Our facilities include The Keep and the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts. You’ll benefit from our connections with a wide range of museums, galleries and collections. Our research informs exhibitions at museums and galleries such as: Tate the Metropolitan Museum of Art the Science Museum. When you graduate, you’ll have the analytic and practical skills needed for work in the cultural, creative and academic sectors. You’ll be prepared for a range of careers in fields including writing, teaching, management and marketing. To help you gain experience and increase your employability, you can apply for an optional placement as part of your course. This can be a fantastic opportunity to gain real-life insight into industry as well as skills valued by employers. You’ll be responsible for applying for and securing your placement.
