Dedicated pathways provide the opportunity to explore a specialist medium in detail, in preparation for further degree-level study or working in industry.****Within the HNC Art and Design course, the Photography specialist pathway embraces the skills, language and knowledge needed to succeed at the cutting edge of this global communications industry. Students will be encouraged to explore their creativity, take risks, build their confidence, and prepare to reach their potential.****About the course**There is an emphasis on employability skills and the knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic aspirations. Programme content is designed to be appropriate for entry to or progression within the creative sector and to enable progress to higher study at Level 5 on the Higher National Diploma (HND) and Level 6 BA (Hons) Art and Design or BA (Hons) Digital Media Design top-up degree pathways.**HNC Core modules include:**-Professional Development -Contextual Studies -Individual Project -Techniques & Processes**Specialised mandatory units:**-Lighting for Photography -Photographic Practices **Specialist optional units:**-select one or two units to make up to 120 credits of study**Assessments**A combination of traditional and innovative assessment methods are utilised such as: projects, presentations, industry work experience and individual or group assignments. There are no examinations.**Qualification awarded:**Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Art and Design (Photography) - awarded by Pearson**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Art and design graduates are very much in demand in the creative arts and associated industries, such as marketing, publishing, branding, retail merchandising, design agencies and community arts organisations.
Typical Offer: Applicants should normally possess (or expect to achieve) a minimum of 48 UCAS tariff points.All applicants will receive due consideration and a wide variety of educational and other lifetime experiences can be taken into account.For art and design-related courses, we may ask to see a portfolio of your recent work and a piece of academic writing as part of the admissions procedure.
