Course information
Architecture at Coventry University is taught, using a range of academic and professional sources, as a liberal discipline that aims to be technically, professionally, socially, and environmentally sustainable. We place emphasis on architecture as a social practice and technical process that purposefully aims to span both science and the arts.
We provide an architectural education that deals with the complexities of architecture itself. Our teaching reflects the nature of contemporary architecture as an international field of creative inquiry and the course incorporates exploration, collaboration and the critical analysis of a range of inputs from differing sources. We provide you with the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and confidence necessary for the role of the architect in a modern multidisciplinary building design process.
Career prospects
This course is designed to prepare you for any role you obtain in architecture. Graduates may also choose to pursue careers in a wide range of related professions or to pursue further academic studies at PhD level. Although work placements as such are not undertaken by the course, the nature of the course aims to provides strong links to industry with industry led design briefs and the input by visiting tutors from industry.
A good undergraduate degree in Architecture, normally RIBA/ARB Part 1. However RIBA/ARB Part 1 is not a prerequisite of the Master of Architecture programme, and we can make offers to candidates – usually from outside the UK – without RIBA/ARB Part 1 exemption from a previous degree. Applicants are normally expected to have completed a ‘year out’ placement in practice with a completed PEDR logbook, or have equivalent experience. This will be determined at the applications stage.
