We'll help you develop your design and technical skills throughout the course to meet this need. As part of this degree, you can also take an optional five-day intensive course in Passivhaus design. This gives you the opportunity and training to become a qualified Passivhaus designer or consultant. Your knowledge will prepare you for a career in industry, research or academia where you can make a valuable contribution to sustainable development. You’ll graduate equipped to: reappraise the design process and apply engineering principles to building design; understand how people use buildings to inform your design solutions; research and use new concepts and technologies to develop sustainable building strategies.

Our course prepares you for a career in industry, research or academia by giving you the knowledge to make a valuable contribution to sustainable development. We work with industry partners to make sure that your studies reflect good practice in environmental design. Our graduates have gone on to work in some of the top UK and international engineering and design companies, including BuroHappold, ARUP and SWECO.
You could also choose to continue your studies with us on our PhD programme.
You should have a bachelor’s honours degree or international equivalent, typically a 2:1 or above. To apply for this programme you should have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate subject such as architectural engineering, architecture with strong technical content, civil engineering or building services engineering, or another subject which included a significant modelling component (e.g. physics or engineering).
