Overview

The aim of our MPhil/PhD in Applied Health Research is to equip the next generation of experts with the tools to address major 21st century health challenges and deliver real-world impact. You will be supported to learn new skills and broaden your professional networks by multi-disciplinary teams of world-leading academics. The Department of Applied Health Research is leading a wide range of research projects and is also collaborating on a large number of national and international research projects.

Careers

Students graduating in the last three years have secured employment in local and central government, public health organisations, NHS trusts, hospitals and clinical trial units, as well as research posts at UCL and other higher education institutions.

The Institute and UCL offers world-class education and training. It manages many of the UK’s largest, most comprehensive longitudinal datasets, and evaluates strategies for the prevention and treatment of physical and mental ill health. It carries out innovative work on behaviour change, and on the practice of primary care as well as leading applied health and health policy research. This MPhil/PhD programme, part of the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care, provides you with an opportunity to develop your research skills within a research environment that undertakes world-leading multi-disciplinary research to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of health care and public health interventions, with particular expertise in reducing socioeconomic inequalities and evaluating health service re-organisation.
