The BSc (Hons) Animal Conservation, Behaviour and Welfare has been designed alongside employers and will enable you to become both skilled and qualified in the fields of animal management, conservation science, behaviour and welfare. You will examine the scientific principles and impact of conservation practices and how they promote natural animal behaviour. The ethics and motivations behind activities such as poaching, trophy hunting and breeding for sports will be explored. Your professional practice will be developed using a wide range of species to enable the application of theory to practical situations such as behaviour monitoring and assessment and welfare standards This course will equip you with the scientific knowledge and practical skills for a range of areas within the animal industry focusing on: conservation biology, ecology, animal ethics, welfare and behaviour and your professional practice (including animal husbandry). Professional development with be embedded throughout the programme to enable students to have a fully developed skills set upon entering the animal management industry. Professional development will encompass practical skills development, graduate skills development and transferable skills development. The unique selling point of this programme incorporates the strong partnership University Centre Weston has developed with Puxton Park. You will experience a practical provision that is an active working business. In addition to this, Puxton Park have a wide range of species held for conservation projects, agricultural and domestic purposes, providing students with the opportunity to work with a variety of species in a range of contexts.
