Understand the causes, effects, and ultimate explanations for the evolution of animal behaviour. On this course, you’ll learn to apply that understanding to conserve and manage species.
Learn from Evolution, Behaviour and Environment faculty in the School of Life Sciences, with interdisciplinary links to the School of Psychology, the Department of Informatics and Sussex Neuroscience.
You will develop an advanced knowledge and practical research skills in animal behaviour. This will put you in a strong position to move on to a PhD or a research career.
You will study at our university campus situated in the Brighton and Lewes Downs UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and within the South Downs National Park, so you can carry out field exercises right on the doorstep.

Our MRes gives you the skills and understanding to carry out scientific research in your chosen area of study. It will place you in a strong position to move on to a PhD in animal behaviour or a research career in associated areas.
Degree requirements: You should normally have an upper second-class (2.1) undergraduate honours degree or above. Subject-specific requirements: Your qualification should be in a relevant subject such as biology, ecology, zoology, or conservation. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
