It has top tier academic facilities and staff and the students are welcoming and open. Furthermore, the school is diverse and therefore multicultured. More student activities could be conducted

I enjoy the practical CDIO classes, and everyone working there is really nice, in engineering at least. There’s plenty of casual work available on campus, and the new engineering building that’s just opened up is very good. My main complaint would be that some of the lecture spaces are a bit tired and could use some TLC. And occasionally lectures will go as late as 19:00 on a given day, which I think is too late.

The best aspects of my uni experience would be the weekly bakery stall and the labs and facilities for engineering students. The worst aspect would be the timetabling and lack of fun things to do around the city.

There is a lot of nature surrounding the university, it makes the bus ride commute more peaceful and relaxes me more than in a busy, traffic-packed city, and noisy city. The course leader is great at taking feedback from Student Representatives and trying to improve our course for the cohort. Facilities such as SPECTRA are great, the building itself is very cozy and the lab rooms, simulation rooms, and wind tunnel rooms are great equipment to use for learning. The food prices in the university are extremely high, around £6.50 for a plate of food, £4.55 for a sandwich that otherwise would cost £1.50 in a supermarket.

Many courses offer placement year or sandwich year including my MSc Aerospace Engineering with Extended Professional Practice, giving students industrial experience. A big strength is its post graduate taught experience. Specifically students said the University prepared them well for the future careers. University of Hertfordshire ranked 2nd in the UK for skills development according to Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES). The University offers modern, well equipped facilities, from collaborative teaching spaces to sports village, gym and more. According to its strategic report Herts is the top 25 % of all UK universities for research impact (REF 2021)
