In the context of climate change and diminishing natural resources, demand is growing for chemical engineers with the skills to design sustainable technologies and processes. Drawing on Southampton’s innovative and internationally leading research in areas such as low-carbon technologies, fine chemicals, green energy, and water/wastewater engineering, this one-year master’s degree will equip you with the specialist skill set needed to meet this demand.
Your studies will provide advanced training in process control and reactor design for sustainable technologies, enabling you to solve complex engineering problems.
Employability is embedded throughout this degree. As part of a group design project you'll work with a team to time and budget to design, prototype, computer model and/or manufacture a product that meets an industrial brief. Your project will be showcased in our annual Engineering Design Show.
You'll also complete an independent research project during which you'll conduct independent, original and critical research on a subject of your choosing. 97% of our Engineering research is rated world leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).
Assessment: Examinations, presentations, coursework and dissertation.
