The course is run at university and in primary schools to provide authentic learning and teaching experiences that will prepare student teachers to inspire learners to achieve the four purposes of a Curriculum for Wales. We work in partnership with schools selected for their outstanding provision and ongoing record of mentoring and involvement in initial teacher education. Many of our lead partnership schools play an active role in shaping the Curriculum for Wales, influencing policy, school improvement and raising standards. The course focuses on developing knowledge in the Areas of Learning and Experience, practical skills, wider skills and professional competencies needed to be a particularly effective teacher. If you choose to study at least 40 credits of your course through the medium of Welsh, you can apply for a scholarship to receive £ 500 a year from the Coleg Cymraeg . The primary team has a proven track record of developing high quality student teachers, many of whom have progressed to leadership roles or have taken up positions in highly regarded schools. After graduation, you will receive Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which means you are eligible to teach in a primary school in a national or international setting. Most graduates secure teaching posts in England or Wales, but some graduates have been appointed to British schools internationally such as in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, China and Quebec.
