*This course is perfect if you have a talent and passion for acting and the performing arts and want to refine your skills further in preparation for drama school or university. *The course programme has been designed in collaboration with The Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA) and leads to a recognised qualification, the Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Performing Arts. Our association with ALRA has allowed us to focus this course on the entry requirements of the most prestigious drama schools, and to provide substantially more contact time than equivalent qualifications.**About the course**You’ll learn and develop further skills in acting, voice, plus devising and producing theatre, through specialist classes and projects during the year. You’ll have the opportunity to experience live theatre both locally and nationally, reviewing performances to get a real taste of current industry trends. Industry experts will share their own professional know-how.You can expect tutors that have a wealth of industry experience and knowledge, providing the opportunity to explore different texts, periods and genres of theatre, and the opportunity to devise your own pieces. You’ll work with students from other courses to create performance material, giving you the chance to develop effective communication skills and confidence.**New City Hub campus**September 2020 is a very exciting time for the Performing Arts department as it moves to our new £58 million City Hub campus in Nottingham City Centre’s Canalside area with brand new, state of the art facilities. This includes a range of specially-designed rehearsal studios for both acting and dance, as well as a 200-seat theatre space with fully-functional wardrobe and workshop facilities and state of the art lighting and sound. In addition to this, students will have access to the TV studio in the nearby Adams Building, as well as a high- quality learning resource centre. View our website: www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk for the latest updates on this exciting new development.**Assessment**Assessment is continuous, being a combination of case studies, group projects, live briefs, peer review and time-constrained tasks. There are no examinations.**Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2021-22 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Your career and progression**After successfully completing this course, you could progress to the second year of our Foundation Degree in Acting (awarded by our partners Nottingham Trent University), apply to drama school or enter into employment.Recent Nottingham College students have gained places at prestigious institutions such as the Bristol Old Vic, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA), Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and the Arts Educational Schools.
Applicants will require a minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points. This should be from an NVQ Level 3 vocational qualification in acting (or a related performing arts discipline) or 3/4 A Levels (ideally including a performing arts subject) and/or substantial performing experience.
