This award equips you with the relevant skills and knowledge to pursue a career in accountancy, finance, banking and a wide range of management roles.

Why choose this course?

This award equips you with the relevant skills and knowledge to pursue a career in accountancy, finance, banking and a wide range of management roles. The programme has been designed specifically to provide you with maximum exemptions from internationally recognised accounting professional body examinations, giving you a head start when it comes to qualifying as an accountant. In addition to your academic studies, you will also be trained in the use of accounting software, analytical skills, report writing, and further employability skills which will enable you to better adapt to the rapidly changing environment of work.

All students have the opportunity to take an optional placement year providing valuable workplace experience and significantly improving your employability on graduation. In addition, during your studies you will have the opportunity to meet with accounting and business practitioners through guest lectures and other special events.

What's unique about this course?

This course has been designed to incorporate internationally recognised skills from professional accounting and finance bodies, giving you a head start in qualifying as an accountant.

All students have the opportunity to take an optional placement year, providing valuable workplace experience in an accounting or finance role.

The University of Wolverhampton partners with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in their Accelerate programme, which provides final-year students an accelerated path to ACCA membership.

What happens on the course?

Professional body exemptions - The course provides the opportunity to gain exemptions for Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), which will make you attractive to employers as you will be a significant way towards becoming a fully qualified accountant.

Internships - You can choose to gain valuable work experience by taking an internship (sandwich placement) as part of your programme of study. Full support in preparing and securing internships is provided through our dedicated support team.

Study abroad - You can choose to undertake one semester or a full year to study abroad at one of our EU partners, as part of your programme of study.
